Excerpt: While employees will often take their leave all in one stretch, the FMLA also allows for the 12 weeks of leave to be taken on an 'intermittent' basis in certain circumstances. 'Intermittent' leave under the FMLA is leave taken in separate blocks of time due tothe same qualifying reason.
