Excerpt: New Provision. The Act increases the employee portion of the HI tax (currently 1.45%) by an additional tax of 0.9% on wages received in excess of a threshold amount. The threshold amount is $250,000 for married taxpayers filing jointly, $125,000 for married taxpayers filing separately and $200,000 for other individuals.
