"Even if the Court ultimately rules the individual mandate is unconstitutional, that does not necessarily spell the end of health care reform. The Court may decide to strike only the individual mandate, leaving the rest of the Affordable Care Act in full effect. Moreover, [the] arguments suggested several ways that Congress could accomplish the same result. For example, both sides seemed to agree that a single payer system would pass constitutional muster, as would a system where Congress regulated payment for health care at the point of delivery (i.e. in the doctor's office)."
