"The final regulation paves the way for employers to significantly expand the financial incentives offered as part of a wellness program to encourage plan participants and beneficiaries to maintain, or to pursue changes in, their health status and health-related behaviors. Employer plan sponsors will need to incorporate into any health-contingent wellness programs the revised requirements for maintaining legal compliance."
