"On Aug.13, 2013, the [IRS] issued final regulations implementing section 6103(l)(21) of the Internal Revenue Code, as added by the [ACA]. This provision authorizes the IRS -- upon written request and subject to strict privacy and security safeguards -- to disclose certain taxpayer information for use in verifying eligibility for health care affordability programs. The following questions and answers provide information that may be helpful in understanding the final regulations."
