Montgomery County, Maryland Passes Earned Sick and Safe Leave Bill Proskauer ![]() [Guidance Overview] June 30, 2015 "All employees based or working in the County are entitled to accrue safe and sick leave at a rate of one [1] hour for every thirty [30] hours worked, subject to caps. The Bill provides that employers with five [5] or more employees must provide up to 56 hours per year of paid sick and safe leave to employees. Employers with fewer than five [5] employees are only required to provide up to 32 hours of paid sick and safe leave and twenty-four [24] hours of unpaid sick and safe leave per year.... Employers are permitted to decide whether to provide the entire balance of sick leave to employees at the beginning of the year or whether to provide the leave as it accrues throughout the year." |
