Subject: Newsletter: Site Search Engine Now Online Date: Wed, 5 Feb 1997 02:06:50 -0500 ................. BenefitsLink Newsletter ............. { { Free, useful information about U.S. tax and labor laws { and new Internet resources, for employee benefit plan { sponsors, service-providers and participants. ......................................................... ______________________________________________________ WHERE, OH WHERE, DID THAT FINAL REG GO? BenefitsLink finally has a search engine! Now you can enter one or more words (including statute and regulation cites) onto an online form, click a button, and BenefitsLink will search its files to produce a list of matching documents. One click on any listed document's name then takes your Web browser right to that document. Give it a whirl ... you can find a temporary link to the new search engine listed on the What's New page. (Use the What's New button on the BenefitsLink home page at http://www.benefitslink.com.) Please feel free to submit suggestions for improvements that could be made to the search engine. (Use the Feedback button on the BenefitsLink home page.) ______________________________________________________ MESSAGE BOARD IMPROVEMENTS ON THE WAY The popular BenefitsLink Message Boards soon will be improved to make them easier and faster for readers. Once the revisions are completed, you will have the option of having the full text of all recently-posted messages downloaded in a "batch" to your Web browser, so the messages can be read or scanned by simply scrolling through them (even after you disconnect). Currently the "Subject" line of each retrieved message appears in a list on your Web browser; clicking on a particular Subject line (which is a hypertext link) tells your Web browser to fetch the text of the message by making another trip to the BenefitsLink computer via the Internet. Although the delay is generally short, each such "point-click-wait" can add up if you're wanting to read more than a few messages. Over 500 messages have been posted so far on the "Retirement Plans" message board alone. Recently the message boards were improved to enable you to search for particular messages by keyword or to limit retrieved messages to those that have been posted recently. There is no charge to use the message boards. (The message boards are accessed through the "Message Boards" button on the BenefitsLink home page.) .................
