I'm pursuing the QKA designation, and am about ready to order course materials for its last two required courses, DC-1 and DC-2 (NOT C-3 and C-4, which are for the CPC designation). The deadline for taking spring exams is May 31. If I devoted a few hours each day to studying, is it reasonable to think I could be ready for the exams in two months and pass them by that date? I realize I could take one or both exams later in the year (next window is Nov-Dec), but I'm trying to finish and receive the designation ASAP. Need to decide now, as the deadline for registering for spring exams is March 31.

Any insights greatly appreciated!!

well, well ,well

first, good luck....no its not luck, I guess I mean to say I wish you all the success in the world.

now, I assume you mean C-1 and C-2(DC) but the way things have gotten renamed I get all mixed up

you did not indicate how much experience you have in the field - that makes a big difference. if you have a good working knowledge, then I would go out on a limb and say that yes it is possible to pass both exams at once. if you have only been working in the field a year or so, then I would think 2 tests might be difficult.

you didn't say what your work load is right now, usually spring with all the 401ks is more burdensome and there is not as much study time, but every situation is different. besides actual working with the material is good 'study/review' time - you are actually using the stuff. do you have the resource materials - certainly that helps.

Agree. I took two at once but I had been in the business 12 years and I was highly motivated. If you are a newbee, forgettaboutit.

The two courses I'm talking about are called DC-1 and DC-2, they are the last two courses for the QKA designation. C-3 and C-4 are much more advanced, I think they are for the CPC designation...way, way, way, down the line for me.

I've been involved with DC plans for a while now, but in employee education, not administration. Also, just completed the PA courses, and found them mildly challenging at most. I'll be ordering all of the courses' study guides and references...just wondering if it's possible to be ready by end of May.

I took both the DC 1 and DC 2 last Nov and passed easily, and I only have about 4 yrs exp in TPA work - like a prev. poster said it depends on how long you've been working in the field. You'll probably have a good idea on how comfortable you are once you get the study guides in. It IS possible, though.

Good Luck!

I took the PA-1, PA-2, C-1, C-2, C-3, EA-1(A), EA-1(B), CPA, Bar Exam, real estate license, Series 7, 63, 12 1/2, 42 hut hut exams, painted my house and walked the dog all at the same time and also passed easily, except I tripped with the pooch and skinned my knee.

"Big lettuce, big carrots, tomatoes like volleyballs."

Blinky:

My house is already painted...but I will be writing my doctoral thesis over the weekend (while I'm not running a marathon). How does that affect my chances?
