  1. Years ago I seem to remember university professors being able to max out both their 457b and 403b plans. Is this still the case? Can someone like a university professor contribute 18K to a 457b and 18k to a 403b? If so, what about catch-up contributions too? Thanks!
  2. Hi does anyone see a drawback to naming your revocable trust as the beneficiary or your IRA or retirement plan? I seem to recall hearing negative things about doing so, but if the trust is the beneficiary, the trust will then direct the distributions. Unless the drawback here is that you're paying a trustee potentially to do the distribution for you instead of e.g. naming both kids as the beneficiaries.
  3. Hi can someone clarify this for me please...if I roll an IRA into a 401K, does the administrator account for those rollover dollars separately in case I want to roll those IRA dollars (and accumulated earnings) back out to an IRA?
  4. Hi jsb...if you can't find a 'clean' one, you can model a new form perhaps on Exel: http://www.icmarc.org/prebuilt/apps/downloadDoc.asp
  5. Thank you Peter...that's very helpful.
  6. I wonder though if there somehow will be a similar event as it relates to 457 plans? I've seen fees as high as 3% when you consider the expense ratio, plan administration fee, and managed account service. And what if a public sector plan sponsor given a nearly identical 457 plan but with substantially less costs but they don't change. Is that a breach of fiduciary duty on the plan sponsor's behalf?
  7. Hello Rai...457 NQDC distributions are reported on the employer's 1099. There is no 20% mandatory withholding, but the plan document may have a 10% default. The employee can opt out of withholding if he/she wishes. Distributions are treated as ordinary income with no penalty and amount distributed doesn't have to be paid back. Does this help any? Question for the administrator...can we post relevant links when answering questions?
