Guest Pat Pendleton Posted May 24, 2001 Posted May 24, 2001 I am looking for examples of a salary continuation policy that we offer our exempt employees. Things like what are the # of days paid, limits, exclusions, etc. We want to be sure we are keeping with industry standards. Ours simply states that is an exempt employee is sick they get paid for up to 90 days and then qualify for LTD. We want to add more definitive guidelines and wording. Any ideas of samples is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Guest Debra Button Posted May 24, 2001 Posted May 24, 2001 We have unlimited sick leave for all employees - exempt and non-exempt. (there is one small group that accrues a set number of days because they are working on a specific contract with a limited fringe pool). We have a 30 day LTD exemption period. Once an employee hits the end of the 30 day waiting period for LTD they can not use any further sick leave. If LTD denies their claim they still will not be allowed to use sick leave. Of course most employees never get to the end of their 30 day wait, they use sick leave for regular every day types of injuries and illnesses. The strange thing is that the group that accrues the set number of days (10) generally use all 10 days each year. The group of employees that has unlimited use has run an average of 4-5 days for the past 8 years. Hope this helps.
