jkharvey Posted July 16, 2001 Posted July 16, 2001 I'm curious what others are doing. EGTRRA eliminated the user fee for new plans if filed during the first 5 plan years. I have some new plans that are cross tested that I was about to submit for FDL. Seems like I should wait until 1/1/2002 to avoid user fee. Any comments?
rcline46 Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 We are not waiting. We are filing the Volume Submitter plans now, with the $125 fee.
Alf Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 Time's-a-wasting. The que at the IRS is going to be huge later this year. I would think that the more rapid response time would be worth more than the reduced user fee. Plus, if you don't have a letter, I am not sure you can wait until after 12/31, can you? Follow-up Question 2: Has the IRS opened the program up for rulings on the new new comparability rules yet?
Belgarath Posted July 20, 2001 Posted July 20, 2001 Yes, IRS Announcement 2001-77 outlines the parameters for determination letter filings for plans with cross-testing.
