Guest Taxwoman Posted August 3, 2001 Posted August 3, 2001 Is it mandatory to have the date of birth for a designated beneficiary of an IRA? I know it is recommended- but the IRA owner does not know the DOB of the individual and wants to designate him as the beneficiary without his knowledge ( for personal reasons)
BPickerCPA Posted August 3, 2001 Posted August 3, 2001 There is no reason to know the date of birth of a non-spouse beneficiary until the account holder dies. Barry Picker, CPA/PFS, CFP New York, NY www.BPickerCPA.com
