I am looking for articles or statistics that can speak about costs over the past 3 0r 4 years.

There are all sorts of sources and articles.

A few are:

EBRI [employee benefit research institute), HCFA (for medicare and medicaid), NIHS, HHS, the Society of Actuaries' reports, HIAA (Health Insurance Association of America), an annual govt publication called "Statistical Data - 19XX", Spencer's Reports and many others.

If you could identify the types of costs, I might be able to direct you to specific publications
