Guest cheral Posted November 8, 2001 Posted November 8, 2001 Does the Gatt rate change again in January 2002 and if so how far in advance will it be announced. I am trying to decide whether to retire now or wait incase the rate goes down.
Guest earthy Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 In all likelihood, the GATT rate will indeed change in 2002. However, you need to read the actual Plan or Summary Plan Description to see how the rate is applied for benefits valuation purposes. The determination date must be the "look back month" specified in the plan. The look back month may be any of the five months which precede the Plan's stability period that includes your annuity starting date. The stability period can be: (i) a calendar month, (ii) a plan quarter, (iii) a calendar quarter, (iv) a plan year, or (v) a calendar year. I know that doesn't answer your question but i think it will get you headed in the right direction when you question the Plan Administrator. earthy
