Guest mkelly Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 Can a Roth IRA accept rollover from a 401(k) Plan that includes after tax contributions? Mkelly
wmyer Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 A 401(k) plan can't be rolled over to a Roth. It must first be rolled over to a traditional IRA, and then converted to the Roth, which is a taxable event. Yes, starting in 2002, after-tax contributions can be rolled over to a traditional IRA. The IRA, including the after-tax contributions, can be converted to a Roth. W Myer
