Guest Sehrl Posted January 17, 2002 Posted January 17, 2002 My firm is sponsoring a new prototypedocument that has been updated for GUST. Our old prototype document was under a different company (Sponsor) name. Our company name has since changed. Since we are obviously no longer supporting that document, does anyone know if we have to notify the IRS as far as informing them that the old document is no longer supported/used by us? Otherwise, wouldn't it look like we are still maintaing a document that is not updated for GUST. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Guest benji Posted January 17, 2002 Posted January 17, 2002 Why don't you ask your new prototype provider. They should give you some good insight.
jaemmons Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 Sounds like you are a regional prototype sponsor. I am assuming that you have filed with the IRS to attain this status. If so, you have an obligation to notify the employers who have adopted your prototype that you are no longer sponsoring their document. Are you going to sponsor another document, or is a name change the only modification to the sponsorship?
