Guest Diana D Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 My brokerage (eTrade) just sent a letter telling me they will no longer hold my Roth IRA for free. After December 31, 2002, it will cost $25 a year I think. Does anyone know of any other brokerage that will maintain the Roth IRA without further charge. Gee, I don't know why they don't think it is worth their time, as they don't have to do anything with it. When I trade, I used to use eTrade but when I move my Roth, I will probably use someone else. Can you suggest any free or competitive Roth IRA trustees?
papogi Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 Go with Scottrade. I think Datek may not charge the fee, but I know Scottrade does not.
papogi Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 One more thing to add. Keep in mind that if the investment vehicle you select through Scottrade (or someone else without an annual IRA maintenance fee) might impose an annual fee. If you select a mutual fund through Scottrade which has a $10 annual fee, you still have to pay the fee. So, with eTrade, they now charge a fee as well, on top of the possible fee from the underlying investment?
