Guest sonia Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 I just wanted to know some of the rules of cobra ,as i recently got into a problem. How long does it cover even after i discontinue with cobra is there anything like they mite cover one month after we discontinue like some of the insurances have.Any answer is appreciated . Thanks in advance
jeanine Posted October 18, 2002 Posted October 18, 2002 COBRA is continuation coverage. You are continuing whatever coverage you had as a member of a group health plan, therefore the provisions of coverage of that plan apply. Typically, the only "extension" you might have would be coverage until the end of the month for which the last premium was paid, or depending on state law if it is truly insurance, extension coverage for hospital confinement. You aren't going to get much of anything from a plan once you stop paying the premiums.
KIP KRAUS Posted October 22, 2002 Posted October 22, 2002 If you are in an insured medical plan there may by state insurance law that requires that a conversion policy be available to you at the end of COBRA. Some conversion policies may cover more than hospitalization. Contact the insure for this information. Conversion policies are also usually expensive.
