Guest CAM223 Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 A defined benefit pension plan has been assessed an excise tax for making its required contribution late. Is there any way to appeal or get an abatement of this assessment?
david rigby Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Not likely. http://benefitslink.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=16430 In addition to that link, there may be other discussion threads on this point. MGB Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I have seen PLRs in the past year or two that have relieved them when there is a real mistake of fact. However, if it just due to paying late, as pax said, not likely.
