mming Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 Does anybody think that submitting a DFVC filing and paying the appropriate fee would somehow earmark that plan for a future audit, even if there wouldn't be an obvious reason for an audit? Also, has anyone heard of the IRS and/or DOL assess any additional penalties (civil or otherwise) after a plan has filed with the DFVC program. Thanks for any info - I'm curious to hear about people's experiences with the above.
BFree Posted April 5, 2003 Posted April 5, 2003 I've had five or six clients file under DFVC, the first in May 2001. None has been audited; no additional penalties.
Kirk Maldonado Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 If a regular consequence of filing under the DFVC program was a follow-up audit, then everybody would stop using it, which would defeat the purpose of establishing the program in the first place. Accordingly, I don't think that there is a legitimate concern about follow-on audits. Kirk Maldonado
