Can a difficult pregnancy be considered a change in status, thereby, a participant can increase her contribution amount under medical reimbursement?

...and under what regulation?

First mid-year changes must be allowed by your plan.

Even if so change in status are legal status changes (death, divorce, sepatation, etc.), change in # of dependents (birth, adoption, loss of student status, etc.), change in employment status, or change in residence (moving into or out of service area). A change in health is not a change in status.
