Guest Jhagan Posted October 8, 1999 Posted October 8, 1999 We are currently a stand alone system, still on GUPTA & 4.0. We are about to upgrade to a multi-user (3 stations). Would love some suggestions about the logical order of upgrading. We are about to enter our most demanding period for the next six months. Should we go ahead an upgrade to the multi-user and wait on Oracle and 5.0 - or do it all at once? We cannot afford to be caught up in the problems of conversion to 5.0 as I have seen with the reports. All of our reports are in crystal. HELP??
Guest Posted October 9, 1999 Posted October 9, 1999 we went from stand alone Gupta to network oracle back in the late spring. I'm guessing with three workstations that might be at least 1/2 a day. that was probably the easiest part! step 2 would be to 'or-a-calize' your reports. that is very important. corbel has some good documentation, step by step if you don't have it. step 3 (personal recomendation) check your vesting schedules. if for instance, you have a 2/20 schedule entered, but pre defined table says 'none', change it to read 2/20. you won't regret it after converting to 5.0 once you get that far, then you can consider following the instructions for 5.0. but by all means, get the ball a rolling, in a few months you won't have the time to monkey with any of this. we are at 5.0, have been for a couple of months, and I still haven't had time to fix all our Crystal reports. we have been slow at that because of other problems encountered along the way. but no sense in worrying about those til you get converted to oracle.
