Guest Jimmy B Posted December 2, 1999 Posted December 2, 1999 Does anyone have any experience in converting from FDP to Quantech? I would like to import as much as possible from FDP to save time, but I'm not sure of the steps I need to take or how much information I need to enter into Quantech before I can import. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Guest Posted December 3, 1999 Posted December 3, 1999 First, welcome aboard and good luck. In May the Southern Users Group will have a meeting in Memphis, so hope to see you there. Please contact Maggie Heffernan at 770 641-1429 for more details. I am scheduled to give a walk through/tips/suggestions etc. I have approximately 8 years experience on Pentabs / Quantech, so a good resource for brain picking on the basics. Just for the record, I am a Quantech user also, and not affiliated with Corbel (Quantech), though at one time I did work there. I would expect there to be an actual conversion program released soon, so your question might be a moot one. If you are sitting with two systems in front of you, generally its a lot easier to do conversion at the start of a year than any midyear - mainly because all you are interested in is transferring an ending balance from one plan to beginning balance in another. otherwise you have a lot of extra stuff to worry about - gains, contributions, etc. Probably the MOST important thing you can do is to print the following from the help topics: takeover plans / census data (This is valuable census info when entering data for the first time - if FDP has an export function, this would give you the import info to export and then import into Quantech - assuming there is no conversion program at this time) In fact, this is important info if you were hand entering the data for the first time on any takeover. Print it and you won't regret it. all that being said, it is my fondest hope to have some custom crystal reports available on our website shortly. we have some for 4.0 but I have been slow about putting 5.0 reports out there - between the office workload and the 5.0 update I just haven't had the time - but I have almost caught up on things, hopefully next week. check out lda-fcpa.com (That is 'l' as in laugh not the number 1.)
