Steve72 Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 They never were. "Trading partner agreement" refers to any agreement between a covered entity and the other party to a covered transaction. HIPAA states that your agreement can't require a format other than the ASC X12N formats. However, entering into a trading partner agreement is good practice to ensure compliance.
