Lynn Campbell Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 It has been a long time since I submitted a Plan and I was hoping someone could offer their list of items that go to the IRS with a submission of a Volume Submitter or Prototype Plan. I would like to avoid the IRS requesting additional information and slowing down the process. Thanks for all input!
Blinky the 3-eyed Fish Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Look to the procedural checklist on page 4 of the forms located here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5307.pdf "What's in the big salad?" "Big lettuce, big carrots, tomatoes like volleyballs."
Lynn Campbell Posted August 1, 2003 Author Posted August 1, 2003 Thanks for the tip. In your recent experience, does the IRS ask for any items that are not included on this Checklist?
davef Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 In order to rely on the 12-month RAP extension for M&P and VS plans (and to demonstrate to the IRS that you are not late in adopoting/filing the plan), you will also need to include either: (1) a GUST certification that the employer signed on or before 2/28/02; or (2) the prior M&P or VS plan document. In the cover letter, I also mention that the provider of the GUST document submitted the plan to the IRS prior to 12/31/00. This has usually been sufficent to avoid any additional requests for documents.
