Guest patman Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 I have recently lost my job. Can you withdraw monies from a Roth IRA if needed to make mortgage payments?
Guest kowen Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 You should be able to withdraw from a Roth even if you haven't lost your job, but the earnings could be taxable if certain requirements aren't met.
mbozek Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 You can withdraw roth contributons at any time without tax. Earnings are taxable unless withdrawn more than 5 years after the roth was open and there is a disributateable event e.g. age 59 1/2. See IRS Publicaton 590 for details at IRS.gov web site. mjb
