Guest tws Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 Governmental entity offers a 457 plan through an insurance company which invests the contributions. There is no plan document or trust and the insurance company doesn't offer one. Any suggestions for locating a plan document and trust that could be used in this situation.
mbozek Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Most 457 plans documents are provided free through funding entities such as mutual funds and ins cos. to employers who use their products. Only other source of documents are tax advisors who are knowledgeable of the requirements for 457 plans and charge a fee to prepare documents. In addition to documents there are several forms which must be provided to participants and beneficaries. mjb
Kirk Maldonado Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 You need to research this, but my guess is you don't have a 457 plan (yet). I'll bet the regulations say that you can't have a 457 plan without a document. Thus, you may have sserious (adverse) tax consequences. My advice would be to hire competent tax counsel.
