Guest PamM Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 In California, is it mandatory for a small group employer (under 50 lives) to offer a health plan? The employer currently offers a medical plan, but is considering cancelling the plan due to economic issues. And, if it is not mandatory, is the empoyer required to give the employees notice ? How much of a notice? Thanks
Guest Cgross Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 I haven't heard an update recently, but there was a SB 2 in CA that required CA employers to either provide a health plan, or pay into a state fund to provide health coverage. It had a graduated effective date, and I believe it wasn't an issue for groups under 50 until 2007. Many thought that this law would be repealed, but I don't know if it has been.
oriecat Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 It looks to me like SB 2 has been sent to referendum in November.
