Guest llaplount Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Hello All; On June 24th, there was an article on the BenefitsLink Newsletter titled "IRS Plans to Issue Guidance Regulations for 403(b) Plans". Besides the article attached to the newsletter, does anyone know where I might be able to obtain additional information on what Guidance the IRS may be releasing?
Guest Yanikoski Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 The IRS had told NTSAA some time ago that the new proposed regs would be out by the end of June. Obviously, that didn't happen, and as far as I know it's just a day-to-day thing, at this point. If anyone out there has heard anything more specific, I'm sure a lot of us would like to know about it. I received in today's mail a flyer from NTSAA offering workshops in Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Francisco in August, and in Atlanta in September. I believe that additional information is available on their web site (www.ntsaa.org).
Ellie Lowder Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 The proposed regulations have been delayed because there were some changes found to be necessary in the final review process. The NTSAA has rescheduled the Chicago symposium to September 13 & 14 to permit Bob Architect, Kristi Cook and me to have time to review the regulations and prepare our presentations. Keep in mind that the symposiums in Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta are two-day meetings - first day will focus on plan sponsor compliance issues (e.g., what the new regs will mean in terms of changes to compliance programs), and second day focused on in depth review of the regulations - especially the changes from past practices for 403(b). Many are planning to attend both days, and likely should do so because I am told the first regs. specific to 403(b) since the early 60's will be very comprehensive. Bob Architect of the IRS, Kristi Cook and I will be presenting the two-day sessions as a team using open forum (e.g., questions & answers throughout). Should be interesting stuff. Last word - regulations are now expected "sometime this month" - direct quote from IRS source - this month means July. Fingers are crossed.
Guest llaplount Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Thank you both!!! Ellie, I'll see you in Los Angeles.
