Guest mab Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 I find conflicting numbers in different sources. Anyone know the exact number off-hand? Tx. Mark.
david rigby Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 A zillion. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
MGB Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 According to CCH, 127 times through 1/23/02. They had a section in their loose-leaf service on "legislation status", and past legislation is in paragraph 29,005. Unfortunately, I switched to online from loose-leaf at that point and their online service does not have that paragraph number (at least I couldn't find it). Perhaps someone with a current loose-leaf can give an update. I'd guess another 10 times since then.
Lame Duck Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 According to my loose leaf section, 132 times, with the last being the Pension Funding Equity Act of 2004, enacted April 10. 2004. It just seema like a zillion.
jquazza Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I thought a zillion was a little excessive... /JPQ
MoJo Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I think the answer is "just enough times to keep me, and my fellow ERISA geeks employed full time..." Viva la Amendment!
Kirk Maldonado Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Not if they were specializing in implementing Section 412(i) plans. (Fortunately, I've never been involved with one.) Kirk Maldonado
Lori Friedman Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Every Ridiculous Idea Since Adam?!?! All joking aside, fo course, ERISA is our friend. Just try to imagine doing your job under 50 different sets of convoluted state law, rife with multijurisdictional conflicts and generally inadequate for protecting workers' rights. Lori Friedman
Kirk Maldonado Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Lori Friedman: Some people that have claims against HMOs might disagree with your assertion. Kirk Maldonado
AndyH Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Kirk, you need to get thee to 412(i) boot camp.
