Guest coffeebreath Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Does a spouse have to be named as a beneficiary in a 457(b) governmental deferred compensation plan?
Guest getaxa Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Generally no, you can have anyone be the bene. However with a 457(b) plan you must check the plan document.
Guest AL HEWITT Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Be very careful here if the beneficiary is the NON SPOUSE NO ROLLOVER Or TRANSFER TO AN IRA IS ALLOWED. The only person that can TRANSFER OR ROLLOVER A 457b PLAN to an IRA is the SPOUSE, if a non spouse inherits a 457 plan they are stuck with the plan and all of the plan rules.
