Guest Harry O Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 I hope I am wrong but I understand that Mark Beilke of Milliman recently passed away. I knew Mark through his work with employer trade groups. He was highly intelligent and very generous with his time. I believe he posted on these boards under the screen name "MGB". I always learned something everytime he posted. He will be missed by the pension community and by these message boards.
david rigby Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 This is tragic news. I saw Mark just four weeks ago at the EA meeting. His in-depth knowledge of many topics has always been valuable to many others, and a great sense of humor. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
AndyH Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Very sad news if true. I always looked forward to his comments and insights.
David MacLennan Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 I did not know him, but feel compelled to say something here. I always read his posts with great interest because of his in-depth knowledge and the historical perspective he often shared. Sad to hear of his passing.
LIBOR Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 he'll be missed !! some time back I had trouble with some of the "restricted employee" concepts ; his reply brought the light .
Appleby Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 I hope you are too Harry. I did too never met him personally, but also learned a lot from his posts. Effen Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 I discussed many issues with Mark both on this board and through email. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the 2003 EA meeting. He was a true asset to this board and the pension community. He was always very giving of his time and knowledge. He will be missed. Guest Brian4 Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 I am shocked to hear this bad news. I did have the pleasure of knowing Mark. He was always willing to give his time and counsel, and was a leader in the pension actuarial community.
