Guest abajeb Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Does anyone out there know if the PBGC changed its mailing address from Baltimore to Detroit? If so, does anyone know when they did this? We got back a premium form and check marked "refused", and we had no idea that they changed the address. It's in the 2005 instructions, but who looks at those anyway?
Effen Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Ya, 2005 forms should go to Detroit. Funny thing about instructions, I don't read them much either, but I make sure someone else does. Sometimes they are actually useful. I hope you read the 5500 instructions; they tend to move their locations around as well. mwyatt Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Hate to complicate this, but the 2004 forms switched to Illinois (Carol Stream), then the 2005 switched to Detroit. Baltimore was last used for 2003. Haven't heard any complaints from the PBGC though (I'm sure we sent out at least some of the calendar year '04 premiums to Baltimore).
could be me maybe not Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Someone I know experienced abajeb's issue. PBGC will receive forwarded mail from the 2004 address (very slowly) but the Baltimore filings are being returned to sender as undeliverable. To make things worse, the delivery box from the 2004 instructions is still active and I know of one that was sent there and signed for-but it was not the PBGC that took it. The PBGC says they "changed it's vendor" so whoever accepted it is not representing them. Apparently this address issue is not an uncommon problem. I don't mind stating that the PBGC is an inept and abusive organization from my experiences with them, and with only one exception the representatives that I have dealt with at diferent levels including problem resolution and coverage determination were incompetent. Other than that, they're terrific.
