Guest mul Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Does anyone know if I can rollover my 457 Plan to an IRA while I'm still working for the city. I am under 59 1/2 years old (actually 40). I want to do this because I don't like the limited fund options available. I also want to roll to an IRA so I can then in turn roll this into a Roth IRA. Thanks!
QDROphile Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 You have to be able to get a distribution in order to roll it over. Start with the question about availability of a distribution.
Guest llaplount Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Generally, the Deferred Compensation 457 plan is only available to participants upon severance of employment. Since you are still employed, you do not have access to receive a distribution and/or complete a rollover to an IRA until you have severed from employment. Age is not a factor in this situation.
