Guest seanmo Posted January 2, 1999 Posted January 2, 1999 Please excuse the ignorance, I am a 26 year old new investor, interested in opening up multiple roth IRA's, and I was wondering if anyone knew how many IRA's it is possible to open, and if there is any kind of limit on how many to open a year...thanks for the info sean
BPickerCPA Posted January 3, 1999 Posted January 3, 1999 The limit is that you can only contribute the lesser of $2K or earned income to an IRA for any year. Assuming you earned more than $2K and wish to contribute $2K, you can contribute $2K to one IRA, or $1 to 2,000 IRAs, or any other combination. Then next year, you can either contribute to your existing IRAs, or start new ones. So there is no legal limit on how many accounts you can have. Guest dells Posted January 4, 1999 Posted January 4, 1999 In addition, you will probably be limited by the minimums set for new accounts by each mutual fund company or brokerage firm that you are interested in.
