billfgrady Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 What books/publications are out there that are recommended for a broad discussion of ESOPs? I'm thinking of ordering The ESOP Handbook by Steven Etkind. Thanks.
Kirk Maldonado Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 You should also check with the National Center for Employee Ownership (located in Oakland, California) and The ESOP Association (located in Washington, D.C.) to see what they have to offer. The NCEO often offers publications for almost a nominal fee if you are a member, and the cost to join is quite reasonable. The savings of purchasing one book will often pay for the cost of joining. namealreadyinuse Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 ESOP Handbook by Steven Etkind I am terrible at searching the web, but I looked and didn't see anyone selling this book. Do you mind me asking where you found it?
Guest FLMaster Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Concur: Check NCEO, National Center for Employee Ownership. They are into ESOP plans.
BeckyMiller Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Bill - What are you looking for? Technical information on ESOP operations. Technical information on ESOP establishment. An overview of ESOP applications? Legal authority? There are lots of resources in varying forms depending on your needs. BUT, the dark side of a published book is that it doesn't automtically update itself. Prentice Hall / Rosenfeld Launer at one time published a treatise on ESOPs, but it is out of print. The authors picked up the rights and are working on an updated volume, but I have not heard of a targeted publication date. That is at http://www.benefitcapital.com/ESOPBookFlyerBCC.pdf The BNA portfolio on ESOPs is a good source of highly technical information. As others noted, the NCEO has many publications with both technical and practical spins. See http://www.nceo.org/esops/esop_books.html In the interest of full disclosure - I am a contributor to a bunch of these publications.
