JAY21 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Company interested in sponsoring a DB plan may have Affiliated Service Group issues and wants to get an IRS ruling on it before proceeding. What rulings are available ? I assume they can get a PLR -or- request a determination on the ASG issue as part of the initial plan submission. Is this, correct ? are these the 2 avenues available to them ?
namealreadyinuse Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I don't think you can get a PLR on something that can be ruled on in a determination letter application. No other avenues that I can think of though.
J2D2 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Haven't looked at this for awhile, but I think a ruling on ASG status is something that you can include in a determination letter request.
Jim Chad Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Have you looked at Derrin Watson's book, "Who's the Employer?" Great Book for info on ASGs. It might answer the questions being asked.
Kirk Maldonado Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Derrin also has a Q&A column on BenefitsLink in which he has answered hundreds of questions. You might find the answer there. Kirk Maldonado
