Guest Brian0925 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Is a charter school eligible to sponsor a gov't 457(b)
Guest Schiff Benefits Group Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Brian, Unless the charter school is a federal agency, it is my understanding that the school would be prohibited from instituting a gov't 457(b) plan. I assume that you want to extend the plan to all employees otherwise a standard 457(b) would be okay for your top hat employees.
Locust Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 It depends upon the status of the school with the state. Is it a governmental agency, instrumentality, etc. I'd have them check on the status of similar charter schools, who may have already addressed the issue. Schiff - note that federal agencies are not covered by 457. See 457(e)(1)
