Felicia Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Can a survivng spouse roll over the 401(k) assets to an inherited IRA? The reason for doing so would be to allow the surviving spouse to take distributions on account of death without incurring the 10% penalty. (If the survivng spouse rolled over the assets to his/her own IRA, the survivng spouse would have no exception to the 10% early withdrawal penalty)
