AndyH Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Looking for comments on pros and cons of commercial software available for cash balance administration and testing. Looking for user friendly menu driven system. The system would not have to handle non-CB plans. Thanks for any help.
AndyH Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 Does everybody use their own software for cb administration and testing? The silence is deafening.
Belgarath Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Sorry, couldn't hear you. We use Blaze for CB testing and admin. Since I don't work with the valuation system myself, I can't say how good it is. The people who are using it are pretty "system savvy" so I don't know if it is user-friendly for a new user or not.
Effen Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 We use ASC. Like Belgarath I'm not really the biggest user, but it seems to do the trick. They had some issues w/ most valuable accruals, but they have recently made the proper adjustments. We use it for our DCs, small DBs, cash balance, & DB/DC testing. AndyH Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Thanks for the comments. I get the impression that there are fewer cash balance practicioners out there than I thought.
SRM Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I use both relius and asc. I much prefer asc due to their flexibility and speed of updates for law changes.
AndyH Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 The software poll posted here a couple of years ago did not indicate that ASC had a cash balance module. Presumably that has been added? Do you have to run the plan in both the DC and DB modules in ASC to run a cash balance valuation? That is what Datair requires I am told.
SRM Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 You can run a Cash Balance valuation entirely in ASC's DB module. You do not need the DC module to handle Cash Balance Plans in ASC, although if you want to test CB plans together with DC plans within ASC then I believe that you would need both modules.
