abanky Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 so the employer gave us the wrong company ein when we submitted the plan and for all the plan admin for the last couple years... anyone ever have to correct the corporate sponsor EIN?
Jim Chad Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 You have my sympathies. You may want to warn the client ahead of time that you will be billing by the hour to fix this. Of course you will want to make this change on the next form 5500 showing the change in box 4. As for 945, 1099R and 1096....If everything is done for one year and nothing for the next year, I would be tempted to just do next years forms correctly. But I would be prepared to deal with IRS inquiries as they come up. Good Luck.
abanky Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 Jim, Thank you for your comments... what about the document submission and all that mess? Andrew
Bird Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I don't think I'd worry about the document submission. Just keep a note in the file so that if it ever comes up you can explain it for what it was, a mistake. I might try just changing the 5500 number with the next filing. Or amend if it's only a couple of years... Ed Snyder
