Verification of 5500 filing

I have a client who is unsure of whether they actually filed their 2007 Form 5500. Basically, we prepared the 5500-EZ and mailed it to them instructing them to sign it, send a copy to the DOL and send us a copy of the signature page. We received a copy of the signaure page but now the client is asking us to verify with the DOL that he actually mailed it to them!

I'm afraid that if he didn't actually file it and I alert the IRS due to my inquiry we have issues. Is there any way to determine if the ifling was actually received w/o creating this type of issue? Has anyone ever done this before?

It might be on FREEERISA.com in their free area. It is pretty easy to register the first time and then log in.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It has not shown up on FreeERISA, but I haven't found any 2007 filings on FreeERISA yet.

Here is a number you can call to confirm receipt of 5500's :EFAST Help Line 1-866-463-3278 . All you need is tax ID and plan number.

Not sure about checking a specific year or not.

Yes, they do, given the EIN, plan number and plan year end

Note that the 2007 filings are out there on freeerisa.com now.

I believe that they were posted a week or two ago.

If memory serves (and it seems to do so less and less!), I don't think "-EZs" are posted on the FreeErisa.com website, as these are "not open to public inspection".
