Guest Benefitsrock Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Has anyone hearch about a possible PPA extension? I understand informally it has been discussed at the IRS. Thanks!
Bird Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I understand informally it has been discussed at the IRS. I've heard that too, but nothing formal. Ed Snyder
movedon Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Extension for what - the deadline to adopt the interim amendment? Isn't that statutory with PPA?
Lou S. Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Anything is possible but we are proceeding with the assumption that they are due 12/31/09.
Bird Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Isn't that statutory with PPA? Yes, and that's why it's problematic. Anything is possible but we are proceeding with the assumption that they are due 12/31/09. As are we...I wish they would just move on to something else already. Ed Snyder

Scuba 401 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Extension in IRS Notice 2009-97, released today. CCH doesn't have it yet. do you know where i can get it?
KED Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Looks like it only extends for limited changes -- doesn't extend for all amendments. .

mwyatt Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Looks to me from reading of Notice 2009-97, that the only issue granting extension for DC plans is for 401(a)(35) - diversification of employer securities. Appears that the batch mailing of "good faith" PPA amendments next week should continue for the large majority of DC plans.
jpod Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 If the plan document itself does not contain any restrictions or limitations on investments, is an amendment to reflect 401(a)(35) even necessary?
Blinky the 3-eyed Fish Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 This extension appears worthless to me. "What's in the big salad?" "Big lettuce, big carrots, tomatoes like volleyballs."
