IRS Determination Letters if Prototype Used

  1. 1. What are you recommending to ERs?

    • I recommend it to all ERs that have QRPs
      2
    • I recommend it to all ERs that I can verify have a complete document history (since last d-letter, if appplicable, or plan inception)
      1
    • I simply draw out for the ER the pros and cons of applying and make no recommendation
      3
    • I explain the determination letter application process, but discourage ERs from applying
      3
    • I don't even tell ERs about the determination letter opportunity; the IRS opinion or notification letter is sufficient

What are you recommending ERs do with their restated EGTRRA plan documents using an IRS-approved prototype, regarding whether to apply for an IRS determination letter?

You forgot at least one choice: "What's an IRS determination letter?" (Of course, I'm only half kidding . . .!)

Larry, I should have known we were playing Jeopardy! and phrased them all as questions.
