mwyatt Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Curious as to why the IRS released rates today, but didn't provide the 2010 Funding Transition rates (Jan-10 only shows for plan year 2009). Oversight? Funding Yield Curve Segment Rates
Andy the Actuary Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 We're the transition rates only appllicable for two years? Or, am I in a dream again? mwyatt Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Good catch, Andy; phase-in was for 2008 and 2009 only. My bad...
Andy the Actuary Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 No, you're good. You, like me, probably simply couldn't envision why anyone would bother to legislate a two year transition!!! Speaking of transitions, would anyone care to conjecture how many wealthy old men were legally dead as of 12/31/2009 but were maintained on life support until 1/1/2010? We keen observers of Mortimer Spiegelman's toll booth probably should take a close look at the death rate in December 2010! mwyatt Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 For those on ski vacations this winter in glitzy areas, see how many elderly are shepherded to the top of Dead Man's Gulch by their scheming offspring for that ultimate extreme skiing experience. I'll throw this link out I crafted off of our website this afternoon in recompense of ignoring the 2-year phase in. You'll get the IRS 417, funding segment, and PBGC variable rate premiums on one page in frames. Tired of chasing down three different pages when a little HTML coding can get them at one time. Hope it is of help Interest rates on one page
quinnfield Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Has anyone seen the IRS Notice that's published monthly with the updated interest rates? Has the IRS stopped issuing this? Thanks,
david rigby Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 The most recent one is Notice 2010-14. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-10-14.pdf (It's incorrectly labeled as 2009-14, but they will probably fix it.) In general, you can find many IRS documents (but not regulations) here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/, although not everything is posted immediately. I'm a retirement actuary.
