Madison71 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 403(b) plan provides that the required beginning date for a participant other than a more than 5% owner is the later of age 70 1/2 or retirement. Pretty standard. My question is if any participant in a 403(b) of not for profit has to take an RMD prior to retirement? There are no owners. Thank you.
Madison71 Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 found the answer to my own question. 5% rule does not apply. Thanks.

Careful. he way you calculate a 403(B) plan is much different than a 401k plan: I woud argue that the plan doesn't even have the responsibility to do it, because it is not a plan based limit
