MSN Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 How do you complete the 2848 for a John Doe VCP submission without giving away the client name? Anyone run into this before? It seems that I would leave the taxpayer information blank, but then it doesn't seem like the 2848 would be valid.
Guest Sieve Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Check out section 10.10 of EPCRS, which includes the following: "However, information identifying the plan or the Plan Sponsor may be redacted (and the power of attorney statement and the penalty of perjury statement need not be included with the initial submission)." So, at a minimum, you can black-out the name, address, EIN, etc. on the Form 2848--or not even file it. I'd do the former.

I've filed several John Doe submissions and I have never included the 2848 in the initial submission.
