Guest Gopherwhisperer Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Are Health and Welfare Plans required to file IRS Form 5500? What are the parameters that require them to, or not to file?
Bill Presson Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Are Health and Welfare Plans required to file IRS Form 5500? What are the parameters that require them to, or not to file? If they have more than 100 participants, then generally yes. You can find specifics here: http://www.irs.gov/instructions/i5500/ch01.html#d0e345 William C. Guest H. Joseph Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Our interpretation of the requirements are that a 5500 would be required for a funded VEBA with less than 100 participants. Is this correct?
Ron Snyder Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If "funded" implies self-insured, yes. If all of the funding is through insurance contracts then no.
