tsrl01 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Should individuals in the payroll/account payable department which have information regarding necessary payroll deductions for medical/health fsa coverage be "behind the firewall"? Or would the functions these individuals are performing not even implicate HIPAA?
leevena Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 HIPAA defines as PHI; information regarding enrollment status, coverage eligibility, payment for plan, all of which it sounds like these people have access to. So yes.
