thepensionmaven Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Does anyone know of any web-based defined benefit valuation software?
SoCalActuary Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Considering the huge investment needed, why would someone do so? There was a time when you logged in on a time-shared computer to do this work, provided you had paid the licensing fee and the online charges. Does anyone do that now? However, if you need something short and simple for some moonlighting work, then I suggest you make friends with another actuary and find a way to use his system.
ubermax Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I agree with SoCal, with diminishing DB business why would a Datair, for example, spend additional money to develop something like this ? but instead of a val sys download with a licensing fee and passwords you could do the same through a website - but to answer your question I don't know of anyone that's offering it . maybe call Datair and pick their brain .
rcline46 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Relius in Jacksonville offers their system with online rather than site licensing and access (their ASP system). Its more of a usage charge. You could try them also.
Andy the Actuary Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 We note that El Dude joined us in March '11 so it is possible he/she is a newbie. What a shock if the case. Else, for small plans, spreadsheets work fine, that is if you are willing to understand/apply rules and not try to incorporate all of the nuances of PPA, which of course is incredibly memory-wise dangerous especially if you're over age 40. Hey, thanks for the compliment! Being a TPA for some 30 years now, I am using Datair and am looking for something better. What does being a "newbie" have to do with the answer??
